Dragon House 17

I have been to many of the Dragon House events even from the beginning. After attending this show, it seems that Dragon House it really trying to turn up the show with an
“All Pro” event. This is something I really appreciate. The talent of most of the fighters has really been competitive.
Brando Faumui came out to really show his skills! I spoke to one of his instructors and he told me he has been working on his wrestling skills. It really showed during the fight as I really did not expect to see him utilize so many skills. Wresting, striking, elbow, knees and Jiu Jitsu. For someone coming into the ring with little cage time he seemed to be right at home and was comfortable using his elbows from the start. We’ll have to see how his next couple of fights pan out.
Mikey Gonzalez vs. the fan favorite Roberto Mendez was an all out war! Mendez came out dressed as one of the Street Fighter charcters had won the crowd over with his display of charter from the start. Unfortunately Mikey didn’t care who the crowd was favoring. They both fought their hearts out and Mikey won by unanimous decision.
Dino Pagtakhan vs. Ricard Rigmaden seemed like a David and Goliath type fight at Richard was much taller than Dino. Dino came out to play his game and show excellent
flexibility and Jiu Jitsu skills by choking out Richard in the second round.
Sammy Saunders ended up with the “W” by a TKO stoppage in the first roud by strikes.
Sam Spengler submitted Tramain Smith via Guillotine Choke from side control in the third round. I have seen Sam Fight quite a bit and was impressed he finished his opponent
via a submission in the third round.
Robert Prankhantree was debuting his Muay Thai skills in MMA. Having seen Robert train in the past I thought for sure he would win by KO via a kick, punch or elbow. I was
quite pleased to see he had some good ground game. Having Darren Uyenoyama (UFC) in his corner probably helped a lot. I have personally trained with Darren and saw a lot
Robert’s ground game mimiced Darren’s game. It was a really exciting fight and Robert showed a little of everything. Once he had the opportunity to “shoot” in a Trinagle he
chose to reverse his opponent to a mounted trinagle and started striking and elbowing Alex. The referee came in to save Alex from the strike and ended up with a welt on his
head as big as a baseball!
Marcel Fortuna vs. Michael Ortega was one of the main events and Fortuna (Black Belt in BJJ) came out determined with a belt around his waist. There was a lot of trading back
and forth with punches an kicks but once the fight ended up on the ground Fortuna really showed his skills by choking out Michael. Fortuna being an instructor and having
choked many people out in the past took it upon himself to make sure Ortega was ok by rolling him over and lifting his feet up in the air so that that Ortega would regain
conscious. What a true sports man Fortuna is to show that kind of concern for his opponent!
